From
an elevated tee the shorter hitter takes aim between the two sets of fairway
bunkers, allowing for the bounce to take them toward the right hand hazard. The
longer hitter can fly the left hand trap on to the plateau, giving a superb line
into the green – albeit leaving a long iron second shot. Approaching the green
there is a knuckle guarding the front left which throws any under-hit shot to
the right and short of the putting surface. With a bunker front left the only
bale-out is pin high right. This green is one of the fastest on the course and
although it’s flat it’s still one of the trickiest to read. Any putt form front
to back will break towards the sea. Long putts can taper off the saucer-like
edges to the green and finish in the fringe.
