Royal County Down Golf Club

Hole 6

Par 4

Championship (yards): 398
Medal (yards): 374
Stableford (yards): 359
Ladies (yards): 338

The tee shot is blind and needs to travel over the white marker stone. Anything too far left is flirting with the deep bunker protecting the 7th green. The brave line is to favour the left side, which opens up the green. There is more room to the right side for the tee shot but there is every chance of running into the heather and making a tough second shot even tougher as you now face a bunker at the front right, which makes holding the green well nigh impossible. The second shot requires finesse but can be played with a short or medium iron. The green is like an upturned saucer, which is tough to get on to.
