Royal County Down Golf Club

Hole 8

Par 4

Championship (yards): 430
Medal (yards): 430
Stableford (yards): 415
Ladies (yards): 403

The tee shot if into the wind, needs to be sweetly struck to reach the undulating fairway beyond the heather-clad dunes, whilst avoiding the deep bunker protecting the right side. Longer hitters will choose the distant cross bunkers as the line and allow the contours to take the ball over to the left centre of the fairway. The second shot can vary from a driver to a wedge, depending on wind and ground conditions. Whatever the club there is still work to do to hit the target. This is a long, narrow green of great pace with a slope form front to back and from right to left, protected by two large drop-off areas to the right and to the left.
